Description
Step off the beaten path and experience Zion from a new perspective on the *Eagle Crag Scenic Zion Hike*. This 6-hour guided adventure takes you beyond the crowds to one of Southern Utah’s most rewarding overlooks. Beginning near the ghost town of Grafton—famous for film scenes from *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid*—the trail winds through piñon-juniper woodlands toward the sandstone spires of Eagle Crags. Along the way, your guide will point out desert flora, explain the area’s rich history, and identify Zion’s famous peaks in the distance. From the ridge, enjoy jaw-dropping panoramas of Zion Canyon, the Parunuweap (East Fork of the Virgin River) Canyon, and Canaan Mountain’s striking red-and-white cliffs. You’ll also glimpse the remains of Shunesburg, a 19th-century Mormon farming community now preserved as wilderness by the Paul Allen Foundation. This moderately challenging hike covers roughly 5–6 miles with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain, making it perfect for hikers seeking solitude, scenery, and storytelling. With its cinematic landscapes and peaceful atmosphere, Eagle Crags delivers the essence of Zion—without the crowds.
